About BART Board Director
Melissa Hernandez
BART Director Melissa Hernandez provides visionary leadership and a track record of results in maintaining and protecting our services and quality of life in these dynamic, extraordinary times. As Dublin’s Mayor, Alameda County Transportation Commission member, and Chair of the Tri-Valley Regional Transportation Authority, she has consistently won high praise from her colleagues, workers at the agencies she oversees, and the riders and residents she serves.
Director Hernandez championed our local health, safety, environmental and economic interests as a representative to the Dougherty Valley Regional Fire Authority, East Bay Community Energy, and the Livermore-Amador Valley Transit Authority and Tri-Valley/San Joaquin Valley Regional Rail Authority (Valley Link) boards, where she leads regional efforts to reduce traffic on the 580 and 680 corridors.
For those who don’t drive, either by choice or necessity, Melissa has worked to provide equal access to a variety of safe, affordable, and reliable public transportation choices, increasing the mobility and improving the quality of life for residents of the Tri – Valley area. These include bus connections to BART, Altamont-Commuter Express, and Central Contra Costa County Transportation Authority.
